Do I need to seal my granite?
The most common method to check if your granite needs sealing is to sprinkle some water on the countertop. If the water is absorbed into the stone and does not bead up then we reccomend you apply sealer.

How can I prevent staining of granite or marble?
Fully stainproofing granite of marble is difficult to achieve, most methods are stain-resistant and wear off over time. With proper care and maintenence you can limit the amount of possible damage.

Wipe up spills immediately on granite or marble surfaces.

Avoid using any acidic or oil based products on the surface of Marble.

Clean and seal countertops periodically based on stone requirements.

Does granite have surface that is completely smooth?
No. The majority of granites contain fissures and pits that are a natural characteristic of the stone. These characteristics may be more or less prevalent depending on the specific material.

Does granite chip or scratch?
Granite is a dense material with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Under normal conditions granite is chip and scratch resistant, however pots, pans, and heavy objects that are dropped or hit against granite may cause it to chip or scratch.

Can I cut on granite?
Yes, granite is a durable material with a hardness rating of 7 on the Mohs scale. Granite can be used as a cutting surface without scratching, however repeated use will dull the surface. We reccoment the use of a cutting board.

Can I use Marble in the kitchen?
Marble while being a beatuiful stone is not the most used material in kitchens due to its high maintenence requirements, tendency to stain, scratch, and etch. We reccomend very careful consideration of these things prior to selecting to furnish your kitchen with Marble.

Can I set hot pans on granite?
Yes, granite is an ideal surface because under normal conditions it will not burn or be harmed by hot pots, pans, or open flames. The use of trivets however is reccomended to avoid any unforseen stress on the granite due to rapid changes in temperature.

Can I set hot pans on Engineered Quartz?
NO. While Quartz countertops are durable and under normal conditions do not burn, the resins within the product have a tendency to discolor if exposed to high temperatures or direct heat for a prolonged period of time.

How much overhang can I have without support?
For 3CM stone (1.25'') we reccomend bracing for overhangs 12'' and over. Large open spans also require support.
